A lighter, more powerful version of the Babolat Aeropro Drive, the Aero Strike brings a high level of maneuverability to the courts. A big seller in the European market, the Babolat Aero Strike features such innovations as the Aero beam design in the throat, for added racquet head speed, as well as the powerful Woofer Grommet System in the hoop. The 100 square inch head provides a more forgiving, livelier stringbed than the popular Aeropro Drive. Our TW playtest team liked the maneuverability of it up at net. From the baseline, we found this stick to provide a great deal of spin and the frame stiffness provided good stability when going for powerful shots. Babolat's patented Cortex System found between the handle and throat provides excellent feel and feedback without the harsh vibrations that come from off center shots. At just under 10.5 ounces, this is a perfect choice for an advanced junior or intermediate players with a medium to full swing. Definitely worth a demo for those in the 3.0-4.5 NTRP playing range.

The Babolat Drive Z 105 is an all new frame for 2009 and features Babolat's ergonomic Smart Grip, as well the Cortex vibration filter at the top of the handle. Based on the lightweight Drive Z-Lite, the Drive Z 105 offers a slightly larger head and ergonomic Smart Grip for added forgiveness, stability, and comfort.

Beginning players seeking a power and maneuverable racquet need look no further than the Babolat Drive Z 118. The Super Oversize head ensures there's plenty of power behind every shot. A large sweetspot makes finding depth a snap, even off a short and abbreviated swing. Faster swings allow easy access to spin. The overall response from the racquet is comfortable from all areas of the court. Comfort at contact is enhanced by Babolat's Smart Grip and Cortex technologies. The grip is contoured to fit the shape of the hand and is designed to offer more control with less racquet twisting. The Cortex system filters out the harmful racquet vibrations, leaving the player with plenty of ball feel and comfort. At net the Drive Z 118 provides enough power to keep volleys deep and effective. Mobility is enhanced by the light weight (only 9.9 ounces, strung) and a manageable swingweight. On serve the Drive Z 118 continues to impress with power. We found lots of ball speed off the stringbed. The forgiving response means even shots hit off-center leave the strings with ample pace. All in all, the Drive Z 118 is a must hit for beginning players seeking a powerful yet mobile racquet that's also big on comfort.
